 | What is the course made up of? The course programme consists of at least 124 hours of study and is a combination of face-to-face sessions & trainer-directed assignments. There are 100+ programmed hours of face-to-face contact (including input and practice sessions), between course trainers and trainees.
Input sessions cover an introduction to the following: • Planning, preparation and evaluation of individual lessons and programmes of work. • A range of teaching techniques to support and facilitate learners’ English language development and performance. • Classroom management. • How to evaluate, select and adapt ELT course materials and resources for use with learners at different levels. • The background to the English language and the description of how it works (grammar, syntax, word usage and phonetics) and how to apply this basic knowledge to effective teaching. • Current language learning theories but also teaching methodologies relevant to ELT. • How to monitor and evaluate learners’ language learning needs, competence and achievements. • Professional development and how to evaluate, review, and reflect upon feedback about teaching and use it to inform future good practice.
