February 2009 - Social Programme

2nd February - Night Orientation: A walking tour of Dublin by night. Diane will take you around some of the main sights of Dublin City Centre. Trinity College, the River Liffey and Temple Bar for a pint of Guinness.

5th February - The Gate Theatre: "The Real Thing" described as "a play which reminds you why you go to the theatre and why you fall in love, and why, just sometimes, it is all worth the effort.” Special Annalivia Student rates.

10th February - St. Michan's Crypt: Mummified remains can be found in this protestant church. Legend has it if you touch it it will bring you good luck. The reason the mummies are so well preserved is due to the dry atmosphere created by limestone and methane. Not for the faint hearted.

12th February - The Porterhouse Microbrewery: Dublin's first micro-brewery pub opened here in 1996 and, and The Porterhouse was at the cutting edge. Ten different beers are brewed on the premises and connoisseurs can sample a special tasting tray selection of plain porter (a classic light stout), oyster stout (brewed with fresh oysters, the logical development of a perfect partnership), Wrasslers 4X (based on a West Cork recipe from the early 1900s, and said to be Michael Collins' favourite tipple) and on and on...

17th February - No. 29: Guided visit of the Old Georgian house. Click Here for more info.

19th February - Johnny Foxes Pub: Click Here for more info.

23rd February - Wishing Well Pub: Click Here for more info.

27th February - Ceoltais Irish dancing: Click Here for more info.
