| ANNALIVIA LANGUAGE CLASSES |
The General English courses aim to improve students’ competence in all aspects of English. It is divided into two parts: the first two hours of each day is a core language course which provides a graded introduction to grammar and vocabulary set in contexts that draw on the students' own experience. This makes the language more relevant to them. The second half of the course provides practice in the four main skills of the language: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Not only do students learn to recognise English as it is spoken worldwide in a variety of accents, but they also learn the skill of good listening which is imparted to them by our staff of professional and highly-experienced teachers. Enabling the students to speak English well and use the language with ease is the primary objective of our teaching. Many of our students live and work in Dublin and need to be able to adapt quickly and efficiently to the target language spoken around them. Intensive reading and writing helps to develop and strengthen fluency and enhances confidence in one’s everyday use of the language. On Fridays, we incorporate English for Work/Academic Purposes to further develop students’ ability to live and work in an English language environment.
We offer our students two evenings out per week, gratis, in the company of our Outings Co-ordinator, Diane. This is a great opportunity for students to socialize, get to know the Irish way of life, and develop their listening and speaking skills informally - while having fun at the same time! |

| |
| SHORT TERM COURSES | Students are placed in a small group which matches their current level as established in the pre-test placement test. As the classes are small, every opportunity is used by teachers to help students expand and improve their command of the language in the shortest time possible.
| | LONG TERM COURSES | We place students in a class appropriate to their level and aim to bring them up to the next level within 16 weeks and to continue to progress at that rate. The speed at which students progress from one level to the next, however, is entirely dependent on their ability and commitment to learning. Those who have the aptitude and put the work in are often able to go up a level in less than 16 weeks. |
|
Although the Department of Education (i.e. ACELS) maximum number of students per class is 15, we at Annalivia have restricted the maximum number per class to 10 (12 in July and August) to ensure more individual attention and better and faster results.

| New! 1 YEAR ACADEMIC PROGRAMME |
We have formulated this programme to allow students to develop fluency in English over an extended period of time. Students can combine studying and working and will have the time to put into practice the materials learned in class in real life situations. For permission to work in Ireland, non-EU students must attend a course of at least one year’s duration and the course must appear on the Department of Education’s Register of programmes, approved by the Minister for Education and Science, for access to employment. 25 weeks tuition is the minimum duration for an academic year. We have developed our Academic Year programme to allow students to study for periods of 52 weeks (with 25 weeks in- class tuition*). During this time students can work part time up to 20 hours per week. For the remaining period students will follow our E-Guided online English course while having the opportunity to practise their English in a professional environment as they will be allowed to work for up to 40 hours per week. At the end of the course, students must sit an official English exam to complete their course. *Our 25 week course commences on the 7th of April and runs for 25 weeks to the 26th of September 2008. Classes are held in the afternoons: Monday to Thursday 14:00 - 17:00 Friday 13:30 - 16:30

This programme is for students with an INTERMEDIATE level of spoken English (or higher) only. | TEACHERS |
| |
| All our teachers are fully qualified as per the Department of Education regulations for teaching English as a foreign language. There is on-going training for them which ensures that they are fully aware of the latest developments in the theory and practice of teaching English. They make up a motivated, friendly team that works with the students on a personal basis. All our teachers (and staff) understand that the experience of learning English is not only about classroom time and so they regularly socialise with the students. |
| |
| |
| STUDENT WELFARE |
| |
In addition to having the benefit of our thirty years of experience in teaching English, students will be able to consult our Student Coordinator about any aspect of living, working or sightseeing in Ireland. The Student Coordinator is constantly on hand to deal with any problems or questions you may have and to provide general information. The Student Coordinator is there to help students to find accommodation (host families, etc…), guide them with CVs and job seeking as well as other day to day issues, as they arise (opening bank accounts, personal tax etc.)
At ANNALIVIA we pride ourselves on maintaining good personal relationships with all of our students. |
